Mr. Kariv has been a member of our Board of Directors since June, 2009 and served as the Chairman of our Board of Directors since July, 2010. He is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Pontifax. He serves as an active board member of many of the funds’ portfolio companies, assuming a special responsibility for strategic planning. Among other positions, Mr. Kariv serves as a board member at Macrocure and V-Wave. During the 10 years prior to establishing Pontifax, he held senior management positions at top Israeli financial institutions, playing a key role in investing in, nurturing and managing technology driven startups. Tomer holds a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Mr. Densel has served as our Chief Executive Officer and a member of our Board of Directors since August, 2015. Prior to joining Check-Cap, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Beacon Endoscopic, which was acquired by Covidien plc. Mr. Densel has a 25-year career in Life Sciences, serving in leadership capacities at BG Medicine, Dune Medical Devices, Hologic, Boston Scientific, and Genzyme Biosurgery. He holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Duke University.
Dr. Gorman has served as a member of our Board of Directors since May, 2015. She serves as Lead Managing Partner at Prosper Women Entrepreneurs, an early stage venture fund focused on women-led businesses. Dr. Gorman founded Advanced ICU Care, the largest telemedicine ICU services provider in the U.S., serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Gorman served at IPC-The Hospitalist Company, a leading national physician group practice, as Chief Medical Officer, Vice President of Medical Affairs and Regional Medical Director. She served as President of Inpatient Care Group, a hospitalist group which she had founded, and which was subsequently sold to IPC. Dr. Gorman also serves on the board of TripleCare and Janus Choice, both privately funded healthcare companies. Dr. Gorman holds a B.A. degree in Chemistry and Biology (Cum Laude) from St. Louis University, an M.B.A degree from Olin School of Business, Washington University and an M.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
Mr. Hanley has served as a member of our Board of Directors since February, 2015. He is the Co-Founder and current Chief Executive Officer of MediBeacon Inc., a medical device and pharmaceutical company based in St Louis. Mr. Hanley is an experienced global business leader, having spent nearly 18 years with the Covidien family of companies, most recently as President of Covidien plc’s Imaging Solutions Business Unit. He is the Chairman of the Board of Managers for Daya CNS LLC, based in St Louis, Missouri. In addition, Mr. Hanley is currently on the Advisory Board for Kogent Surgical LLC. He has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration from Marquette University.
Mr. Lin has served as a member of our Board of Directors since February, 2015. He has served as the Group President and Chief Executive Officer of the Esco Group of Companies, a leading global life sciences tools provider active in laboratory, medical and pharmaceutical equipment based in Singapore. Mr. Lin has also served as the Managing Partner of Esco Ventures, a strategic investment arm of the Esco Group of Companies, focused on early stage investment in life sciences tools and med-tech start-ups, which he founded. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Robb has served as a member of our Board of Directors since May, 2009. He is the general partner of Counterpoint Ventures Fund, and serves as a management consultant and President of Vantage Management, Inc., a private investment and consulting firm. Dr. Robb served as Senior Vice President and Director for Corporate Research and Development for General Electric, and served on General Electric’s Corporate Executive Council. He was the Director of GE Medical Systems from 1973 to 1986. Dr. Robb received the National Medal of Technology from President Clinton for leadership in the CT and MR Imaging Industry. He holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University and an M.S. degree and PhD in Chemical Engineering, both from the University of Illinois.
Mr. Yanai has served as a member of our Board of Directors since March, 2015. He has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Given Imaging Ltd., Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Koor Industries Ltd., Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of NICE Systems Ltd., and as the Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Elscint Ltd. He serves a Director of Mazor Robotics Ltd., Medical Compression Systems (D.B.N) Ltd., Standard & Poor’s Maalot, CompuLab Ltd., Efranat Ltd., and Hadassah Medical Organization. Mr. Yanai also serves as the Chairman of the Israeli Fund for UNICEF. Mr. Yanai holds a B.Sc. degree in Accounting and Economics from Tel Aviv University.
